Dyspnoeic patients are some of the most common emergencies we face as veterinary nurses.
And we know that while their care is often challenging, it can also be really  rewarding.
Oxygen support forms a large part of their management, and caring for oxygen-dependent patients is vast.

This session will explore the methods of oxygen support available and considerations for each, discuss how to evaluate whether each method is appropriate for your patient, and explore how to identify when advanced administration methods are required.

We'll also examine the nursing care that respiratory patients need, and the opportunities to use our skills with these patients.
At the end of the session, you will be able to:
  • Evaluate different methods of oxygen therapy and determine the most suitable option for each patient.
  • Recognise when oxygen therapy needs to be escalated, and the options for advanced oxygen support.
  • Create a tailored nursing plan for an oxygen-dependent patient.
